Training

Every person should have the power to decide if, when, and under what circumstances to get pregnant and have a child. One Key Question® and our other trainings help clinical and non-clinical providers start, continue, and expand the conversation around pregnancy desire with all patients. All our online trainings are available for purchase through our Store.

One Key Question®

This interactive training certifies individual clinical or non-clinical providers to ask One Key Question at their site. The training teaches providers how to start the conversation about pregnancy desires with their patients, and how to implement the screening tool. This training does not allow providers to train their colleagues, staff, or anyone else on One Key Question. This training will take approximately 4-6 hours to complete and includes videos, reflections, knowledge checks, and modules on unconscious bias in family planning care, reproductive well-being, and implementation.

By the end of this training, providers will be able to:

  • Explain the rationale for using One Key Question in their practice.
  • Articulate how One Key Question supports people in achieving reproductive well-being.
  • List strategies to identify and address unconscious bias and promote reproductive autonomy at the individual level.
  • Demonstrate how to ask One Key Question and follow the 4-response Pathways to Care with fidelity.
  • Identify resources and tools on contraception and pre/interconception care.
  • Describe key components of One Key Question implementation workflow.

Those who take the One Key Question Certification Training are eligible for:

  • 6.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (CME - Continuing Medical Education)
  • 6.0 Category 1 contact hours in health education (MCHES/CHES - Certified Health Education Specialist)
  • 6.0 CPH CEs (CPH - Certified in Public Health)
Preconception and Contraception Pathways to Care

One Key Question Certification Training opens the door to a conversation with a patient about if, when, and under what circumstances they want to get pregnant and have a child. The Preconception and Contraception Pathways to Care training takes that conversation one step further by teaching providers how to offer preconception and contraception counseling and care in a personalized, non-judgmental, and unbiased way.

This interactive training will increase a provider’s knowledge of contraceptive methods, introduce factors a patient may consider when choosing a method, and describe essential elements of preconception care. Providers will learn how to build patient-centered preconception and contraception pathways to care.

This training will take approximately 1-2 hours to complete and includes videos, reflections, knowledge checks, and modules on patient-centered counseling, contraception, and preconception.

By the end of this training, providers will be able to:

  • Be conversant in the health and wellness factors patients and providers should consider before pregnancy to improve outcomes for maternal and child health.
  • Identify and explain actions patients can take to improve their health during the preconception period.
  • Be familiar with a broad range of contraceptive methods and key features of each.
  • Be aware of the range of factors a client may consider when choosing a contraceptive method.
  • Be aware of provider and patient-facing contraception and preconception and interconception resources.
  • Commit to providing all counseling in a way that supports clients in a non-judgmental and unbiased way.

Those who take the Preconception and Contraception Pathways to Care Training are eligible for:

  • 2.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits (CME - Continuing Medical Education).
  • 2.0 Category 1 contact hours in health education (MCHES/CHES - Certified Health Education Specialist).
  • 2.0 CPH CEs (CPH - Certified in Public Health).
