Sofia Uriagereka, BPhil

I have the power to decide what self-determination and autonomy mean for my present and future.

Pronouns: she/her

Sofia Uriagereka is the Public Policy Coordinator for Power to Decide. Sofia recently graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Philosophy in Anthropology. For Sofia’s honors thesis she completed a comparative analysis of widespread state and church-backed abuse of reproductive autonomy in post-civil war Spain and Ireland. During her time as an undergraduate she was a staff columnist for The Pitt News and was also involved in several student groups. She speaks Spanish and Galician, and is working on her Basque and German.

Sofia was born and raised in Washington, D.C., and is thrilled to be back home, where she can most often be found explaining how to pronounce her last name.
