Power to Decide Dismayed By Funding Opportunity Announcements for The Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program That Put Ideology Over Evidence

April 20, 2018

(Washington, D.C.) —Today, the Office of Adolescent Health released two Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) for the Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) Program. In response, Ginny Ehrlich, CEO, Power to Decide, released the following statement:

“Today, the Office of Adolescent Health released two Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) for the Teen Pregnancy Prevention (TPP) Program that fail to meet the diverse needs of young people across the country. The FOAs dismantle the TPP Program from the inside out and prioritize ideology over evidence, and as a result put our most vulnerable young people at risk. All young people no matter who they are, or where they live, deserve to have the information and skills they need to decide if, when and under what circumstances to get pregnant. As a result, we urge the Administration to reconsider the guidance in its most recent FOAs and prioritize rigorously evaluated evidence-based programs as the TPP Program has successfully done since its inception.”
