Power to Decide Urges Congress to Support the Abortion Care Awareness Act

October 27, 2022

(Washington, D.C.) Today, Power to Decide applauds the introduction of the Abortion Care Awareness Act of 2022, sponsored by Rep. Carolyn Maloney. This bill would fund federal efforts to share the facts about abortion care—including where and how to access such care—and combat the spread of biased, false and misleading information.

The following can be attributed to Power to Decide CEO Raegan McDonald-Mosley, MD, MPH:

“Power to Decide has long worked to combat misinformation and provide people with the facts when it comes to understanding and accessing reproductive health care. Our AbortionFinder website was launched in 2020 to address the need for a comprehensive directory of verified abortion providers, information and resources.

“We’ve seen that need expand dramatically over the last year, and while we’ve expanded in kind, we are tremendously grateful for legislation like the Abortion Care Awareness Act. Rep. Maloney’s bill would provide support and funding at the federal level to ensure people can find the accurate information they need to access abortion care and protect their reproductive health.

“Power to Decide is proud to support the Abortion Care Awareness Act, and we urge members of Congress to take up this urgently important legislation.”
