Extending postpartum Medicaid coverage to one year is an important step in improving maternal health outcomes—a core component of reproductive well-being. As of April 2023, 30 states have already implemented a 12-month extension on postpartum Medicaid coverage, and 11 more states have announced plans to implement an extension.
