New Feature On Bedsider Expands Information and Access for Women

October 2, 2018

(Washington, D.C.) — Bedsider—the proven and award winning digital birth control information and support network—today launched new information about accessing abortion services on its health services clinic finder. By expanding Bedsider’s clinic finder, the nation’s most comprehensive access network of where to get reproductive health services, more women will be able to identify where they can go to access the services they need to decide if, when and under what circumstances to get pregnant and have a child.

Bedsider draws its clinic and health services information from the most reliable sources and conducts comprehensive reviews of the services offered to ensure quality and accuracy. Its enhanced feature will assist women in finding real clinics so they will have the access to the information to make the decisions that are best for them. Bedsider is a project of Power to Decide.

“We are strongly committed to providing women—no matter who they are or where they live access to high quality sexual health information and reproductive health services,” said Ginny Ehrlich, CEO, Power to Decide. “Adding abortion-related services to the Bedsider clinic finder tool is an extension of this commitment. The clinic finder will now provide women with a trusted resource to identify where they can go not only to access the full range of contraceptive methods, but also where they can find unbiased, supportive professionals who will assist them in weighing all of their options if they have an unplanned pregnancy.”

Launched in 2011, Bedsider.org is an evidence-informed, digital intervention aimed at supporting young women (age 18-29) to learn about access and using birth control effectively.  Bedsider is the first reproductive health digital intervention in the U.S. for adults that has been shown to prevent unplanned pregnancy.  Bedsider offers medically accurate information on all current methods of contraception and includes the most comprehensive database of health center locations offering reproductive health services in the U.S. Bedsider also offers extensive content on sexual health and relationships, as well as content and tools to support consistent and reliable use of contraception. Bedsider had more than 6.25 million unique users in 2017.
