Power to Decide Urges Congress to Support Right to Contraception Act

July 21, 2022

(Washington, D.C.) Power to Decide announced its strong support today for the Right to Contraception Act, sponsored by Representatives Kathy Manning, Nikema Williams, Sara Jacobs and Angie Craig, which would codify the right to birth control and family planning counseling, as well as the right for health care professionals to provide contraceptive care and information.

We encourage the House to pass this important legislation during today’s vote, and the Senate to follow suit.

The following statement can be attributed to Power to Decide CEO Raegan McDonald-Mosley, MD, MPH:

“Power to Decide is proud to stand with Representatives Manning, Williams, Jacobs and Craig, and the many legislative champions who are supporting the Right to Contraception Act. Like the majority of Americans, we share the frustration that measures like this are still so necessary, when millions of people across the country already struggle to access contraception and other basic health care they need. This bill would affirm not only the right to seek birth control, but also the right of physicians and other health care professionals to provide this essential care. We urge members of Congress to take this important step to ensure everyone has the opportunity to protect their reproductive well-being, now and in the future.”
