POWER TO DECIDE URGES SENATE TO SUPPORT RIGHT TO CONTRACEPTION ACT

July 27, 2022

(Washington, D.C.) Today, Power to Decide calls on the U.S. Senate to support the Right to Contraception Act, sponsored by Senators Edward Markey, Mazie Hirono, Tammy Duckworth and Patty Murray, which would affirm the right to birth control and family planning counseling, as well as the right for health care professionals to provide contraceptive care and information.

The following statement can be attributed to Power to Decide CEO Raegan McDonald-Mosley, MD, MPH

“Power to Decide stands with Senators Markey, Hirono, Duckworth and Murray, and the vast majority of people across the country who support access to birth control. And we share their frustration that measures like the Right to Contraception Act are still so necessary, when millions of people across the country already struggle to access the basic health care they need. This bill would affirm not only the right to use birth control, but also the right of physicians and other health care professionals to provide this essential care. We urge the Senate to take this important step to ensure everyone has the opportunity to protect their reproductive well-being, now and in the future.”
